WHY GIVE TO YLBB

GIVE A HAND UP, NOT A HANDOUT

Alabama’s Black Belt area has been identified as having some of the highest unemployment and poverty rates in the nation. High unemployment and high poverty rates are leading contributors to youth delinquency and concurrent criminal behavior. School systems fall below the national standards ranking Alabama schools as low as number 49 out of 50 states in the nation.

The Glenda Davis Deese Foundation is committed to providing knowledge to youth in the Deep South, so that they can compete academically with their peers nationwide.

At the Foundation, we are committed to help economically and socially disadvantaged persons, particularly youth, achieve individual goals through various platforms, such as the Youth Leadership Black Belt, seminars, minority and women advocacy forums, etc.

Youth Leadership Black Belt offers a “hand up” not a “hand out” to the youth looking to improve their quality of life.

Any contribution to this effort is greatly appreciated and will help in our efforts to accomplish the end results the Foundation has set forth.
